Advocacy

While NJAMHAA aggressively lobbies state and federal legislators on its members' behalf, these lawmakers need to hear from you, their local constituents, those who elect them. The louder and stronger the voice, the more impact that it has on all who hear it. Getting to know your state and federal legislators is essential for effective lobbying.

Promote Recovery Now with NJAMHAA's New Advocacy Piece
NJAMHAA is pleased to announce that its new advocacy piece, Recovery Now for New Jersey and its Residents, is now available, and urges all members to use this document as a basis for their advocacy to local legislators.

Recovery Now illustrates the following:
•    Anyone can have a mental illness and/or addiction - and many do.
•    Providers measure success by lives and tax dollars saved, rather than profits earned.
•    The effectiveness of privatization.
•    Specific individuals' success stories.

NJAMHAA shares these OTHER advocacy pieces with you in your efforts to outreach to your legislators.

Fiscal Year 2011:  Walking a Tightrope

Fiscal Year 2010:  Bankrupt Dreams, Battered Souls

Fiscal Year 2009:  Still Waiting
