New Jersey Assemblyman Ronald. S. Dancer (R-District 12) passed away on July 23rd at the age of 73. Dancer represented the 12th District since 2002 and served on the Agriculture and Food Security; Military and Veterans' Affairs; and Tourism, Gaming and the Arts Committees.

Assemblyman Dancer was honored at NJAMHAA's 2019 fall conference with the State Leadership in Mental Health and Substance Use Treatment Award for his support of NJAMHAA legislative priorities, such as a fee-for-service supplemental funding bill and New Jersey's parity bill. In a publication of NJAMHAA News, NJAMHAA President and CEO Debra L. Wentz, PhD, was quoted saying, "He is the primary sponsor of several other bills that serve to improve behavioral health service delivery and he has shown an openness to receiving and considering input from NJAMHAA on these and other issues. Assemblyman Dancer, with his first-hand knowledge of barriers to quality, timely treatment, is on a mission to make a difference."

Dr. Debra Wentz stated today, "On behalf of everyone here at NJAMHAA, I extend our deepest sympathies, prayers, and thoughts to Assemblyman Dancer's family, friends and colleagues. He was one of NJAMHAA's legislative champions, and had such a positive impact on so many lives touched by mental illnesses."
